Madhubani Or Mithila Painting is one of the oldest form of Art in India that is still Practiced, worn, and preserved by women. A 2500 years old art that used to be a ritualistic art practiced by the woman in the region of Mithila in Bihar, India. There are 5 distinctive styles Bharni, Katchni, Tantrik, Godna and Kohbar. They are practiced by different castes. This art form was made during, weddings, child birth, festivals etc. and traditionally painted on the freshly plastered walls and floors of huts. Now they are done on cloth, handmade paper and canvas using fingers, twigs, brushes, nib pens, and matchsticks, using natural dyes and pigments.
I learnt Old traditional art forms growing up in India and have started creating and preserving this art form once again in this part of the world.
